Mammoth Espionage Offensive
Underway
|
|
In a communication dated August
25, China Reform Monitor reported that
since 2003, a giant cyber-espionage attack
from Guandong Province in south China, has
been underway. The American government has
dubbed this massive Chinese computer espionage
ring "Titan Rain." It has begun penetrating
sensitive U.S. government and business
networks.
Time magazine reports
that the infiltration committed by these cyber
spies is considered by government officials to
be “serious,” and includes breaches of
facilities such as the Sandia National
Laboratories in New Mexico and the U.S. Army’s
Aviation and Missile Command. US analysts have
traced this activity back to China’s Guandong
province and suggest that it made up of
multiple hackers manning six to ten computer
terminals around the clock. The conclusion of
US analysts is that this well-organized and
financed espionage is state sponsored.”
