GREAT OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE 50 PLUS CROWD
2008 is well underway
already
and time to think about the most important subject for seniors-
what am I going to do with the rest of my life? With
1/12th of 2008 history, every one of us ought to
seriously be thinking about this question. Another way of
asking it would be what will I do with the second half of my
life? These are very important questions for Christians
especially as we anticipate making every day count for Jesus.
Well I have some suggestions for you.

they are urged to drive in for the day starting at 9:00 a.m.
Rev. Ted O’Farrell, the new director, has everything in hand for
a great day of blessing. There is no registration fee required
for Drive-Ins, but an offering will be received to help pay
expenses. Dr. Alford will be speaking at the Bible Hour and some
special things are being prepared for the 1:30 p.m. hour. Invite
your friends to fill up your car and let’s see how many churches
will be represented from Florida.
FANTASTIC PRAYER MINISTRY OPPORTUNITY
Many times seniors (50 PLUS people)
wonder
what they can do with the rest of their lives, and frequently
they have more time to do something significant. Everyone,
regardless of age, can have a great opportunity to change the
world through prayer. It’s a ministry everyone should be
involved in on a regular basis, but this is not just regular
prayer; this is praying for others in great need with the use of
your computer. Read the following for an exciting new ministry
that everyone can be involved in.
Guideposts, the popular magazine
offering
hope to millions of people, is urgently seeking people who
believe in prayer to become part of their Prayer Team. Several
years ago I volunteered to pray for the needs of hurting men
and women who ask for prayer. It is one of the most thrilling
outlets I have personally discovered which has put me in contact
with hundreds of needy people who are seeking the Lord. It’s
very simple to get involved by using your computer.
1. Log on to
www.ourprayer.org and
register as a prayer volunteer.
2. Once
registered, you can begin to pray for individual prayer requests
listed right on your screen.
3. You can
have direct contact with some people if you so desire and
counsel them by letter. However, this is an optional blessing.
4. For
anyone with more time available, Real Time prayer is possible
using a toll free number provided by Guideposts.
5. That’s
it. Please log on immediately and see for yourself what it is
all about.
It is so simple to be involved
with the needy of our country. It just takes a heart that longs
to give a cup of water in Jesus’ name. I am deeply impressed
with this ministry Guideposts has developed and you will be too
when you look into it. Do me a favor, please. Let me know if you
register as a prayer volunteer. I hope the day comes soon when I
can announce that we have 20 or 30 prayer volunteers in Florida
involved in a ministry close to the heart of God.
WILLIAM WILBERFORCE OF AMAZING GRACE FAME
Assist News Service reports
that
Dr. Geoff Tunnicliffe, International
Director of the World Evangelical Alliance (www.worldevangelicals.org
) and Chuck Stetson, chairman of THE BETTER HOUR, a division of
Essentials in Education (www.thebetterhour.com
) announce their partnership in bringing the inspiring, new
one-hour television documentary, THE BETTER HOUR, The Legacy of
William Wilberforce to nationwide American public television
beginning in February, 2008. The film was produced to
commemorate the 200th anniversary of the 1807 abolition of
British and American slave trade in a 20-year heroic effort led
by British Parliamentarian William Wilberforce. (Effective date
of U.S. legislation was January, 1808.)
The inspiring story of John Newton’s
“Amazing Grace” and Wilberforce’s struggle against slavery has
challenged millions of viewers. This new documentary will impact
millions more and we seniors should be at the forefront
promoting this presentation because “it can bring together both
Christians and non-believers to create better communities around
the world," said Tunnicliffe, whose World Evangelical Alliance
includes churches in 128 nations and more than 100
organizations, representing some 420 million evangelicals around
the world. (The DVD is for sale at
www.shopPBS.org.
)
The film focuses on a
politician who developed strength of character in the service of
high and seemingly unattainable goals. This film highlights
William Wilberforce's drive and love for humanity and how his
character and a sense of justice join together to bring what the
English poet William Cowper described as "the better hour."
"Today,
the world needs a new generation of people like Wilberforce,"
writes Rick Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Life, in the
foreword of the related book and study guide, creating the
Better Hour: Lessons from William Wilberforce, which includes
chapters by Os Guinness, Chuck Colson, Baroness Caroline Cox,
among others, and edited by Chuck Stetson.
Help get your
church involved by circulating this information, and pray that
many lives will be transformed for the glory of God.
