PRAISE REPORTS FROM CHINA

CHINA CLIPPINGS REACHES MORE THAN 1,000 INDIVIDUALS.  In addition, it is now reaching at least 500 churches. These reports are all based on accurate information received from people doing Chinese work around the world. It is obvious that God is doing a new thing among our Chinese brothers and sisters, and there is great rejoicing in heaven over many, many Chinese coming to Jesus Christ. In order to protect the people and the churches, names of individuals are not listed here lest their work be compromised or hindered in some way. Names and churches are added by request.

THE CHRISTIAN & MISSIONARY ALLIANCE .  Workers residing in Hong Kong were able to visit a church in Hunan Province that was celebrating its 100th anniversary! Through years of suffering and difficulties, it has survived triumphantly and has just dedicated their new building. The Light of the World Church also dedicated a training center for equipping church leaders. The mayor of the city and local government officials attended the dedication and thanked the C&MA for its help and support in recent years.

CHINA OUTREACH MINISTRIES rejoices that Dr. Hank Wang has completed the translation of Pilgrim’s Progress and it has been accepted through an official channel in China . This means that the book will be available through China ’s mainstream publication outlets.  Dr. Wang has also published another book for China called Religion and Culture which focuses on studying the Christian faith from a more intellectual perspective. This new publication is very significant since it is now officially listed as a reference book for university students across China who study American and European philosophy, history, literature and culture. The book clearly shares the author’s Christian faith. He earned his PhD from Ohio University and resides in Columbus , Ohio .

AN ORGANIZATION DOING SPECIAL EVANGELISM reported 118 people in Hong Kong were trained to share their faith. As a result of their training over several days, 138 people professed faith in Jesus Christ. In addition 109 churches participated in 126 semesters of training (usually 15-16 in length) with 910 people involved. This led to 2,200 more professions of faith in Jesus Christ.  Inside China in 2002, 123 people were trained in six Clinics (several days of intense preparation) including 12 pastors, 25 lay pastors, 3 seminary students and other church workers. This response is phenomenal and is an indication of the serious commitment of the Christians to share their faith. Praise the Lord for another 286 people inside China who prayed to receive Christ. Pray that the revised study material for adults and Chinese kids will be completed by March 2003. That’s next month!

SERVING GOD WITH HEART AND SOUL is the name of a new book just released on the life of Pastor Augustus Chao by Pastor Chao and Sylvia Yu. I just received my copy of this fascinating and challenging story of 90 year-old Pastor Chao. It was my privilege to participate in his ordination in Hong Kong in the 60’s as he challenged the Canadian government to open the door for him to go as the first Chinese Alliance pastor to Canada . Many pictures make this a memorable book of the miraculous workings of God through his humble servant with a great vision to reach the Chinese of North America. The book is available through Regent College Bookstore, 5800 University Boulevard , Vancouver , BC V6T 2E4 or by calling 1-800-334-3279 or by e-mail: bookstore@regent-college.edu   The cost is $15.00 paper back. 162 pages. Every Christian will be blessed by the faith and vision of this unusual servant of the Lord.

THE PERSECUTED CHURCH. Although there are abundant miracles of faith taking place all over China , still there are areas where leaders of house churches and believers are severely restricted and persecuted. Pray for those in prison for their faith, that they will be kept in this hour of trouble and sometimes death.

BEWARE OF SENSATIONAL APPEALS FOR MONEY FOR BIBLES. The growth of the church in China is reaching unusual numbers, and consequently, the need for Bibles grows greater every day. I was recently informed of a group appealing for thousands of dollars for Bibles to be smuggled into China if funds could be provided within two weeks! For $5.00 or more per Bible, thousands could be transported to China in some mysterious manner they would not describe. The fact is C&MA workers and other reliable mission groups can provide Bibles legally and at a fraction of the cost and you will be assured that every penny goes for the Bibles. Bibles printed in China cost $1.50, and as I have reported here before, the American Bible Society provides all the paper free of charge to Amity Press for the printing of Bibles at the rate of one every second. Please give to reliable mission boards that are held accountable to mission agencies or churches.

GIANTS WALKED AMONG US – The Story of Paul and Ina Bartel that was released last March has sold out the first edition. A new edition has been released and is available from Christian Publications, Inc, 800-233-4443 in paper back, 200 pages, or by writing to me at Kahu@juno.com. Check it out on my web site.  See www.bollback.com for more information. The cost from me is $12.00 including postage.

RED RUNS THE RIVER is the latest book I am working on. It is a novel based on true facts about China from the days of the Communist takeover. It will be an unforgettable story of Communist persecution and oppression of Christians and the church. It resulted in the persecution and death of hundreds of thousands of believers, yet this story will record the triumph of the church in spite of everything Satan could possibly imagine. Hopefully it may be available this year bringing hope to anyone besieged by trouble and/or persecution. Please pray for its progress and inspiration.

A NEW CHINESE COUPLE FOR BRAZIL .  Samuel and Nancy Chen are presently in Brazil studying Portuguese in preparation for doing Chinese work there. They are supported by the C&MA Surinam Alliance Churches. Pray for them that they will quickly acquire the use of the language and experience great blessing on their ministry. Thank God for the Surinam churches that have caught the vision of reaching lost people in another country.

PASS THIS ON. Your ministry of prayer for Chinese people will be increased by passing these reports on to churches and individuals. KJust forward this report to someone and suggest that they contact me at Kahu@juno.com and simply request being added to the mailing list. Should anyone wish to have their name removed, kindly send a note, and it will be done.
